Cooperative ProgramCooperative Program
Just as pastors and church leaders encourage fellow believers to give a tithe to God's Kingdom work, the Baptist Convention of Iowa and the Southern Baptist Convention encourage churches in affiliation with them to give consistently throughout the year to the Cooperative Program. This method of pooling money supports missionaries and their ministries in Iowa, North America and around the world, as well as missions administration, theological education, evangelism and various types of other ministries. The program has worked with exponential results since its inception in 1925. Most Southern Baptist churches give a percentage (around eight percent of more) of their monthly budget to the Cooperative Program because they know it works. They also support associational missions at two percent of their budget or higher. Most of all BCI/SBC churches give to cooperative missions because they know it works, and God's kingdom is being expanded around the world because they give, pray and go!
